SAC-M held a media briefing on 6 March 2025 at the United Nation’s Palais des Nations in Geneva. SAC-M attended the second week of the UN Human Rights Council’s 58th session in Geneva, from 3-7 March, where it met with key political delegations and senior officials to bring attention to the situation on the ground in Myanmar.
In this media briefing, SAC-M’s founding members Yanghee Lee, Chris Sidoti and Marzuki Darusman discuss the key issues raised throughout the week, including the critical need for coordinated international action to end junta atrocities and support ongoing people-led nation-building in this defining year of Myanmar’s crisis.
A special thank you to the Association of Accredited Correspondents at the United Nations (ACANU) for making this briefing possible.

2025 will be a pivotal year in Myanmar’s post-coup crisis. Although abandoned by the United Nations and surrendered by the United States to China, Myanmar just won’t go away. Its resistance continues to make significant gains against the military. Urgent global action is needed to prevent escalating military attacks on civilians, address massive humanitarian needs, and support the growing, people-led nation-building effort.
